Blocked Apps: let movement bring your apps back (optional)

An optional setting: the apps you pick pause after a long stretch of sitting, and come back when you move.

What it is

Blocked Apps is an optional setting for people who like a little nudge. You pick a few apps, and after a long stretch of sitting, Wakeout pauses them. A one-minute Wakeout, or any movement your iPhone tracks in Apple Health, brings them right back. You may remember this as Active Pass. Same thing, new name.

It is entirely up to you

  • It is off until you turn it on. Wakeout does not block anything by default.

  • You choose the apps, and you can change them any time.

  • It only runs during your active hours. Evenings, weekends and days off are yours, guilt free.

  • You can unlock your apps whenever you like.

  • You can switch it off completely, and your apps are unblocked right away.

Where to find it

Open Wakeout and go to Settings > Advanced > Blocked Apps. Blocked Apps works on iPhone and iPad.

What brings your apps back

  • A Wakeout, even a 1-minute one

  • Movement that Apple Health picks up, like walking or climbing stairs

  • Reaching your daily movement goal, which keeps your apps free for the rest of that day

  • A day off, or the Unlock button when you just need an app now
